Roadmap: the voyage ahead

A heading through 2026 into 2027, from Early Access to the 1.0 horizon. The community charts the course: in Early Access your feedback drives what rises to the top, so the order can shift. Dates are tides, not deadlines. One thing that never moves: your captain's progress, level, skill points, everything earned, is never lost, not even when a run ends. Ships are rebuilt; captains endure.

Steadying the ship

Launch, then fixes shaped straight from your feedback. The Steam Deck update, full controller support, ultrawide screens, crew you hire and train, from Common hands to Rare specialists, and the Ammo & Arsenal update: boss captains, the Scourge and the elites fire chain, grape and fire shot, and every kill leaves salvage and crates floating to loot.

Early Access Shipped

August 2026

Six captains, six ships

Every hull repainted with sails that furl, and the six boss captains on ships of their own. A tutorial that stops the world while it teaches, storms you hear before you see, and the full Defend the Port siege: piers, moored hulls and besiegers that go for the harbour. The First Sea also became a free demo.

Captains & Caves

Drifting cloud shadow, the game in ten languages, and controls rebuilt: rebind anything, play from the mouse or a pad. Every captain gets a signature attack and every pirate lord answers with one of their own. The Sea Cave opens, beaten ships strike their colours to be plundered, a Trading Post on the chart sells wood, iron and supplies, the skill tree grows to 21 skills, and Linux and the Steam Deck run natively.

Uncharted waters

A new encounter, the Clue Hunt: follow your captain's clues and the sonar to three buried caches. And new ones behind the question mark: the Cursed Wreck lays a curse on your next fights, and the Devil's Bargain offers three pacts, each a boon with a price. Figurehead keystones and marked Elite nodes give a build its identity, the Trading Post wager plays out at the table, and the main menu is repainted.

Update In playtest

Nov – Dec 2026

Endless

Endless mode: once the campaign is behind you, keep sailing deeper for the always-on score chase.

Update

Early 2027

New contracts & the arena

Fresh work on the open sea: Dead Man's Salvage wreck-recovery races, bounty hunts on named targets, plunder cruises after loot-heavy convoys, running the blockade at the harbour mouth and escorting convoys through hostile water. And the first captain-vs-captain duels take to the water.

Update

Mid 2027

New ships

Take command of new ship types, each with its own guns, slots and hull.

Update

Late 2027

Ranked seas & community

A ranked PvP ladder with cosmetic rewards, and a community map builder to craft and share your own gauntlets. The road to 1.0.

1.0 horizon

At 1.0

True colours

Most of the art and sound in the game today was made with AI tools and finished by hand. Our Steam page says so, and will keep saying so until this lands. It has started: a sound designer's cannons, impacts and storms are already in, and an artist has repainted the player's sloop by hand. The world is next, then the ships, and the search for a composer is on. For 1.0 we want the lot replaced. The biggest item on this list, and the last one standing between Early Access and 1.0.
